If you are looking to improve your mood, friendships and relationships, ease tensions in work and family life, and resolve long-running issues that may be holding you back, I would look forward to working with you. This work takes attachment, co-regulation and the social neurobiology of emotions seriously as foundations of mental health. With the help of other trauma-specific techniques, we can also work towards peace and fulfillment in the aftermath of trauma, whether single-incident or chronic and complex. My work uses the latest evidence on how to tailor the therapeutic process to your needs and preferences so that you will be in the best possible situation to flourish, make progress on your therapeutic goals and weather the pain of addressing difficult situations in your life. In the first session, you and I will co-create a process tailored to you. This can be open ended or can focus on concrete skills like goal-setting, boundary-setting, emotion naming and regulation, mindfulness, and compassion towards others and towards yourself.

Raising healthy and happy children with ADHD can be a big job, but the good news is that you do not have to do it alone. There is a lot that can be done to help! ADHD is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that impacts each child differently. ADHD has little to do with how "smart" your child might be, but it has a lot to do with your child's ability to regulate their attention, mood, and behaviors. When symptoms of ADHD lead to lower self-esteem, mental health concerns, behavioral challenges, or academic struggles, it is a good time to seek professional help. I am an Art Therapist and a Licensed Mental Health Professional with a passion for helping children with ADHD reach their fullest potential. I offer child-based services that focus on building self-esteem, teaching skills, and re-igniting a passion for learning. I also offer parent-based services that offer guidance, education, support, and training. Children with ADHD can have an excellent quality of life, but they often need extra support along the way. If you are looking for fun, compassionate, and effective strategies to help your child and your family, please give me a call. Our services can be used as the first line of treatment for ADHD or in partnership with your child's medication.

On the outside, it looks as though you’re holding it all together. You have a good job, group of friends, and house to come home to. But on the inside you feel like you're failing, you’re using every ounce of energy trying to keep up appearances and you lay in bed at night wide awake with worry telling yourself you can't take another day like today. Nobody modeled or taught you how to make sense of and manage your emotions so they feel confusing and overwhelming when they occur. You've tried everything you can think of to help yourself through this, but you still feel like something's off and could use some extra support. View 3 Photos Feeling helpless, anxious, and lonely are normal responses to navigating uncharted waters. With me, you don’t have to be picture perfect and hold it all together. We can laugh, cry, dive into your fears, lean into the hard emotions, dispel the anxiety, and tap into the inner peace you’ve been longing for. I am an expert cheerleader, accountability partner, and heart holder. Therapy with me is more than "just listening" and isn't about giving you unwanted advice. I seek to establish an authentic and deep connection built on trust, safety, and compassion. I feel honored to support you during this tumultuous time and look forward to meeting you!

I see adults who want to not just change their behaviors but transform their lives from the inside out. We do this together by using Accelerate Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and slowing down to process overwhelming thoughts and feelings moment by moment. This often results in feeling (maybe for the first time) overwhelming emotions which are often brought on by trauma. We change by having corrective experiences not just more knowledge. I believe you’re not broken, you’re not missing something, and there is a valid reason you are feeling the way you are. Your story is unique and your healing will be to. I take an approach to therapy called Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). It’s a mouth full I know. The roots of this framework include a belief in every person’s capacity to heal through the brain’s ability to change, it shines a light on relational attachment, elevates experience as a healing method, and creates trust in your emotions. You deserve to be listened to with empathy and attentiveness. Your life matters, your story matters, and your future matters. Please reach out to me to set up a free 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good fit and we can go from there!

As we all continue to navigate life's transitions and changes, we eventually find ourselves needing guidance and support along the way. Whether you or someone you know is currently thriving or struggling in life, deciding to seek therapy can often be a helpful, rewarding, and life-changing experience. Finding and choosing a therapist, however, could be challenging and overwhelming. Not only must practical matters be considered, such as fees and scheduling, so must the therapist's style, approach, and qualifications. In other words, it has to be a "good fit" and it must "feel right." I enjoy working with adults and older adults navigating the gains and losses of life's domains, including health, aging and life transitions, relationships, academics, finances, and work. Some areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, weight, pain, insomnia (CBT-I), stress management, women's health issues, and bariatric pre-surgical evaluations. My "style" or "approach" centers on being genuine, transparent, direct, and engaged with my clients. I believe strongly that focusing on strength, humor, and positivity is important and that change can happen fairly quickly in therapy. I am happy to speak to you to determine if I can help.

Whether life is going well or you are struggling to feel well, therapy could be a helpful and powerful tool in moving forward. Finding the right therapist, however, could be overwhelming. With investments of energy, time, and money, it is important to select a therapist with whom you feel comfortable—someone that "gets" you and in whom you have trust and confidence. I enjoy helping adults understand their barriers and strengths to help them meet their goals in the various aspects of their lives, such as relationships, work, school, and health. I specialize in helping to manage and overcome self-defeating behaviors, relationship problems, depression, and anxiety. Other specialties are insomnia (CBT-I) and ADHD evaluation. I believe health and happiness come through living in moderation. We must also acknowledge our positive, strong, and humorous traits. This belief system is the cornerstone of my approach, moderative psychotherapy. Many clients describe my "style" as "honest," "real," being a "straight-shooter," and interactive. I would be happy to correspond with you to see how I could help and whether my specialties, approach, and style are a good fit.

People often ask why I work with people affected by trauma. Why? Because I am passionate about the lifelong impacts of undiagnosed and untreated trauma on a person’s life. I am also passionate about the resilience of people and their ability to heal when proper care is provided and barriers are removed. Trauma is treatable, and no one need be “stuck” with its long-term aftereffects. We can heal from trauma, and it would be a privilege to work with you on your healing journey. Finally, building safety, trust, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do in our work together. And you are always in the lead. Like many therapists, I use a variety of therapies to help clients reach their goals, whether trauma related or not. I am also trained in two trauma-specific therapies: Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), developed by Dr. Janina Fisher, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, developed by Dr. Pat Ogden. Finally, building safety, trust, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do in our work together. And you are always in the lead. My office is conveniently located on the east side of Hillsboro, near Intel, Nike, and Beaverton. It is 4 miles off Highway 26 and 2 blocks from the bus line. Parking is free and plentiful.

Therapy can be very beneficial for individuals willing to have the courage to be vulnerable and open to change. While most people tend to seek therapy after the fact, when things have gone wrong, I also encourage therapy as a means of maintaining wellness. By being proactive, versus reactive, you may find that you'll experience greater happiness and less stress. If you've done your research then you know there are many options for help, which can make it hard to choose; I standby the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship as key to making this work and encourage you not to give up if you don't feel connected at first. A holistic approach to overall wellness is important to me as well as a deep respect and awareness for multiculturalism. I tend to gravitate toward cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and person centered approaches to my therapy work with others. I do make therapy a collaborative and supportive journey, but will gently challenge you to help you bloom. The act of reaching out can sometimes be the hardest step on your way to healing. I encourage you to take a chance to inquire about connecting. I am happy to provide a brief initial phone consult to see how I may be of assistance or if another referral would be more beneficial. Also, I am able to provide teletherapy (video sessions) pending your insurance.
